Over the summer a family member asked me to create some thank you cards and reservation table tents that would match her Old Hollywood inspired party. We started with the basic questions: What's the theme? (In this case, Old Hollywood). What's the color palette ? (In this case, Gold and Black).
Now with a clearer vision, I stopped by Paper Source, which is a great place to find a wide variety of specialty papers, card stock, envelopes, etc. I immediately flew to grab the basic paper items I would need (envelope and card stock in ivory). Then I started layering the fun stuff, accent/specialty papers, that would flow with our theme.
The specialty paper seen on the photo above was brown/kraft paper with gold flower patterns, which would serve as my envelope inner lining. It worked well with the Old/vintage feel and had a pop of that shimmering gold for the glitz part of Hollywood. We punched it up with glitter paper instead of going with a gold colored paper. They were selling glittered gift wrap so I purchased the roll instead of a few sheets of 8.5x11 to get more of a value.
Hope this helps get you started on picking the basics for your stationary project!
